Both of my children have jobs now. It's the first time in my life that they have both been working at the same time. It's amazing what having your own money will do for your attitude. I just didn't remember because I've been working for soooo long. It really gives them both a sense of independence, some freedom, a door to adulthood.
It's hard parenting on my own. It's hard teaching them to become adults. I've got to learn to let go, let them make their own decisions, do things for themselves. It's hard not to want to do everything for them. Pay for everything. However, I think they think I interfere too much, and they want to make their own decisions, spend their own money, learn for themselves.
Having their own jobs and their own money is definitely good for them. I'm happy for them, and I'm happy for me.
